Columbia Valley Housing Society

Columbia Valley Housing Society is a non-profit community housing organization based in the Columbia Valley region of British Columbia, Canada (Invermere/Radium Hot Springs area). It was formed in June 2022 by local community and business leaders to help address local housing challenges identified (e.g., labour shortages tied to lack of housing) and to create more secure, affordable housing opportunities for residents who live and work in the valley.

The first housing project CVHS is advancing is a workforce-supportive housing development in Invermere, British Columbia, where they are also seeking to incorporate innovative methods that are replicable for future projects in the region.

2CVHS retained 2B to provide development consulting, project management, and construction management services. Our work has also included working with CVHS on several grant applications to obtain funding for the project. This project highlights the comprehensive services 2B provides to non-profits seeking to build new affordable housing solutions, which typically have limited funds, resources, capacity, and development-specific expertise. The project is intentionally designed as a replicable template that can be deployed across multiple sites in the region, forming the foundation of CVHS’s broader pipeline of five additional housing projects

While our team primarily resides in Ontario, we have leveraged our resources in Western Canada, traveled to the area, and developed an efficient project management process from afar. Despite the distance from our main office, our team has successfully supported this project's progress toward building permit issuance in under 12 months.

Our role includes establishing structured communication and reporting systems to coordinate municipal approvals, local consultants, and nonprofit stakeholders across provinces, ensuring schedule discipline and financial oversight despite geographic distance. The development delivers affordable housing across a mix of unit types to address acute workforce housing needs, while emphasizing scalable design, procurement efficiency, and long-term operational sustainability. This project demonstrates our ability to deliver multi-site housing initiatives in partnership with out-of-province clients, translating standardized models into locally responsive supportive housing solutions through rigorous project governance and stakeholder coordination.
