Starland County, AB

Industrial Land Development Strategy

Starland County is advancing the development of a new Business Park designed to strengthen the local economy, attract investment, and create long-term employment opportunities within the region. Located at the intersection of Highways 9 and 56, the approximately 143-acre development is planned to accommodate a mix of heavy industrial, commercial, and industrial business uses that will support both local businesses and regional economic growth. The project represents a significant investment by the County, which has chosen to take on the role of developer by planning, servicing, and preparing the land for future business investment.

2B Developments was retained to provide strategic project management and development consulting services as the Business Park moves from planning into implementation. Our role includes supporting the County through subdivision and planning approvals, reviewing technical studies and engineering recommendations, coordinating consultants, developing project roadmaps, assisting with procurement, and helping Administration and Council navigate the complex decisions required to deliver a large-scale municipal development. Acting as an independent advisor, our team helps ensure the project progresses efficiently while balancing cost, risk, and long-term development objectives.

As with many large municipal projects, advancing from concept to construction requires careful coordination between planning, engineering, servicing, environmental requirements, and regulatory approvals. Our team is working closely with County staff to streamline the development process.

The Starland County Business Park demonstrates 2B's ability to support municipalities undertaking complex economic development initiatives that extend beyond traditional municipal responsibilities. By combining strategic project management with development expertise, our team helps rural municipalities confidently deliver major infrastructure and land development projects that create lasting economic opportunities for their communities.
